DNV814
802.11b/g/draft-n ADSL2+ IAD
Introduction
Draft-11n is the wave of the future in wireless networking. This exciting technology gives wireless LANs (WLANs) the speed they need to handle the most bandwidth-hungry applications in the home, the small office, and the enterprise.

Almost six times as fast as the 802.11g devices now common in homes, businesses and hotspots around the world, draft-11n products work in the same 2.4-GHz band, and are backward-compatible with both 802.11g and 802.11b equipment. The user's investment in legacy infrastructure is fully protected during the move to draft-11n.

Combining a draft-11n access point (AP), ADSL2+ modem, four-port Fast Ethernet switch, analog telephone adapter (ATA), and multi-function router, the DNV814 is an integrated access device (IAD) ¡X an all-in-one solution for setting up a high-speed wired/wireless network, sharing a broadband Internet connection, and enjoying low-cost voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone service. Four computers can be connected directly to the switch, or the wired network can be extended with hubs or other switches to include dozens of computers. The draft-11n AP gives wireless clients blazingly fast access to the network.

For VoIP service, two analog phones (or other telephony devices) provisioned with different numbers can be connected to the foreign exchange subscriber (FXS) port through an included adapter. A second included adapter provides separate data and voice connections from the ADSL2+ port. The phones are automatically connected to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) if device power is lost, ADSL service is interrupted, or the user dials an emergency services number.

The DNV814's firewall and NAT functions protect the network from outside intruders. Wireless security can be ensured by WEP, WPA, or WPA2 authentication and encryption. MAC and IP address filters provide further control over access to the network, while internal users' access to the Internet can also be filtered. To allow authorized access from the outside, DMZ host, VPN passthrough, and VPN endpoint features are available. A host-mode USB 2.0 port supports attachment of external storage for access through a built-in HTTP, FTP, or media server. Setup is carried out using a built-in browser-based configuration utility that gives the user point-and-click control of all functions.

With the DNV814 at the center of a home or office network, all users can enjoy convenient, secure network access at blistering speeds. With the savings made possible by the DNV814's VoIP function, users will also be pleased by the speed with which the DNV814 pays for itself!

Features and Benefits

  • Superb Performance
Draft-11n uses multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology to provide nearly six times the speed of 802.11g WLANs, and to significantly increase wireless coverage. While MIMO's benefits are greatest on links between draft-11n devices, draft-11n is compatible with 802.11b and 802.11g ¡X and 11b/11g clients deliver improved performance on links with a draft-11n AP.

  • Integrated Four-port Auto-sensing MDI/MDI-X Fast Ethernet Switch
By automatically adjusting to the speed of each client and the polarity of the cable, the built-in switch makes connecting multiple computers for Internet access economical and easy. Four computers can be connected directly, or dozens can be connected through hubs or additional switches.
  • User-friendly Setup and Management
A setup wizard is provided to make initial configuration quick and easy. All setup, management, and monitoring functions can be accessed through the easy-to-use browser-based graphical user interface. Users will feel right at home, managing the router and the network through their browser of choice.

  • Voice over IP
Two ordinary telephones can be connected for extraordinary savings through VoIP. The phones are automatically switched to the PSTN if power is lost, ADSL service goes down, or the user dials an emergency number.
