Draft-11n
is the wave of the future in wireless networking.
This exciting technology gives wireless LANs (WLANs)
the speed they need to handle the most bandwidth-hungry
applications in the home, the small office, and
the enterprise.
Almost six times as fast as the 802.11g devices
now common in homes, businesses and hotspots around
the world, draft-11n products work in the same
2.4-GHz band, and are backward-compatible with
both 802.11g and 802.11b equipment. The user's
investment in legacy infrastructure is fully protected
during the move to draft-11n.
The DWN814 is a combination draft-11n access
point (AP), ADSL2+ modem, four-port switch, and
router ¡X an all-in-one solution for setting up
a high-speed wired/wireless network with a shared
broadband connection to the Internet. Four computers
can be connected directly to the 10/100-Mbps switch,
or hubs or switches can be daisy-chained out to
connect dozens of machines. The draft-11n AP will
easily handle dozens of wireless clients ¡X and
provide enhanced range and throughput, even for
802.11b and 802.11g devices.
The DWN814's firewall and NAT functions protect
the network from outside intruders. Wireless security
can be ensured by WEP, WPA, or WPA2 authentication
and encryption. MAC and IP address filters provide
further control over access to the network, while
internal users' access to the Internet can also
be filtered. To allow authorized access from the
outside, DMZ host, VPN passthrough, and VPN endpoint
features are available. A host-mode USB 2.0 port
supports attachment of external storage for access
through a built-in HTTP, FTP, or media server.
Setup is carried out using a built-in browser-based
configuration utility that gives the user point-and-click
control of all functions.
With the DWN814 at the center of a home or office
network, all users can enjoy convenient, secure
network access at a blistering pace ¡X and be confident
of keeping up with the pace of progress in networking
technology for many years to come. |
