The
WN614 is a DSL/cable router, four-port Gigabit Ethernet
switch, IEEE draft 802.11n access point (AP), NFS/CIFS/FTP
file server, DLNA-compliant media server, network
firewall, and DHCP/NAT server all rolled into one.
It simultaneously provides wired and wireless stations
with secure Internet connection sharing, file transfer
to and from external storage, and audio/video file
streaming to digital media players. It is the ideal
solution for providing multiple computers in a home
or small office with secure, economical wired/wireless
LAN and Internet connectivity at the highest speeds
available today.
The router connects to a DSL or cable modem through
a Gigabit Ethernet port that automatically adjusts
for cable polarity and the modem's highest supported
data rate. The switch ports, also auto-adjusting,
can support four directly connected computers
or dozens of computers connected through daisy-chained
switches. The wireless AP, conforming to the IEEE's
draft 802.11n standard, gives draft-11n clients
LAN and Internet access at speeds up to 600 Mbps,
while also supporting 802.11b and 802.11g clients
at improved levels of throughput and range.
Powerful firewall features including NAPT and
DoS attack prevention protect the network against
external threats, while VPN passthrough and virtual
server functions ensure that authorized users
can connect from the outside. Local security features
include MAC and IP address filtering, plus WEP,
WPA, and WPA2 to ensure wireless security. A URL/content
filtering function helps parents safeguard family
values and managers maintain productivity. Setup
and management are carried out through an embedded
browser-based configuration utility that gives
the user point-and-click control of all functions. |
