BRV 414
Wired VoIP Gateway
Introduction
The BRV414 is an all-in-one networking solution for homes and small to medium-size businesses. Its four switched 10/100-Mbps Ethernet ports can link four computers directly, or dozens of computers through daisy-chained hubs or switches. Connected to an ADSL or cable modem, it provides network users with high-speed broadband Internet access. Its two foreign exchange subscriber (FXS) ports let the user attach ordinary telephones and enjoy extraordinary savings by making calls over the Internet instead of the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

The embedded DHCP server automatically configures computers on the network for access to the Internet. Firewall and NAT functions protect the network from outside intruders. MAC and IP address filters provide control over access to the network, while internal users' access to the Internet can also be filtered. For authorized access from the outside, the BRV414 provides DMZ host, VPN passthrough, and (optionally) IPSec endpoint features. A setup wizard makes initial configuration quick and easy. A built-in browser-based configuration and management utility gives the user point-and-click control of all functions.

Working with ADSL or cable, packed with the features both families and businesses want, providing convenient, fast, secure network access and low-cost Internet telephony, the BRV414 is a gateway to a new world of flexible, economical connectivity.

Features and Benefits

  • Integrated Four-port Auto-sensing MDI/MDI-X Ethernet Switch
By automatically adjusting to the speed of each client and the polarity of the cable, the built-in switch makes connecting multiple computers for Internet access economical and easy. Four computers can be connected directly to the switch, or dozens can be connected through hubs or additional switches.

  • User-friendly Setup and Management
A setup wizard is provided to make initial configuration quick and easy. All setup, management, and monitoring functions can be accessed through the easy-to-use, built-in browser-based configuration and management utility. Users will feel right at home, managing the router and the network through their browser of choice.
  • Voice over IP (VoIP)
Two FXS ports allow ordinary telephones to be plugged in for extraordinary savings through VoIP. The VoIP framework used by the BRV414 is the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), an open Internet standard and the choice of most VoIP providers today.
