WM640
PCI Express Mini Card 802.11b/g Module
Introduction
The WM640 is good news for forward-looking makers of mobile devices, BTO/CTO (built-to-order/configured-to-order) systems, and other products incorporating the new PCI Express Mini Card interface.

Supporting both IEEE 802.11b and 802.11g in a form factor half the size of a Mini PCI card — less than half the size of a credit card — the WM640 provides cost effectiveness, low power consumption, and low heat dissipation. In compliance with the PCI Express Mini Card 1.0 specification, the WM640 supports USB 2.0 signaling at up to 480 Mbps over the Mini Card connection. An on-board I-PEX MHF-type connector provides maximum flexibility in antenna choice and location.

Despite its small size, the WM640 delivers full IEEE 802.11b and 802.11g functionality, as well as the advanced security and quality-of-service (QoS) features of 802.11i, 802.1x, and 802.11e. "Soft AP" support lets the user turn the host device into an access point for other wireless clients (so they can share a 3G connection to the Internet, for example). The WM640 provides plug-and-play wireless connectivity in the 2.4-GHz band anywhere in the world.
